LOCATION: The Karibea Leyritz Plantation dates from the eighteenth century and was restored as a hotel in 1972. The hotel is located amongst banana and pineapple plantations in the foothills of Mount Pelée. The Leyritz Plantation is in the heart of the North Atlantic region and therefore the ideal departure point for excursions to the north of the island. For example: the St James Distillery and the Banana Museum at Sainte Marie, the basket work village at Mornes des Esses, rivers and waterfalls, the tropical forest and Mount Pelée (an active volcano). Grand Rivière Excursion, Gorges de la Falaise, Site des Ombrages, Hindu Temple, Port de Pêche, J.M. Distillery, Canal Promenade, Macouba Church (Père Labat), cassava flour and syrup production at the village of Lorrain.
